The first facilitated learning exchange visit under COPASAH was organised from December 17-19, 2013 in district Chandauli, Naugarh Block, Uttar Pradesh with Gramya Sansthan as the host organisation. The participants visited three villages- Karwaniya, Majhgai and Dumariya; and got an exposure to the functioning of the Mahila Swasthya Adhikar Manch (MSAM).
From 7th -10th October 2013 TARSC through COPASAH and EQUINET held a regional workshop on Participatory Approaches to Strengthening People-Centred Health Systems in Zimbabwe, in the east and southern Africa (ESA) region. The training brought together 28 delegates from 7 countries in east and southern Africa (see Appendix One for list of participants) to discuss and deepen our understanding on ways to strengthen primary health care through improved public involvement and health service accountability.
COPASAH organised a five days training workshop, from 21st - 25th September 2013, in Delhi. The workshop was being organised for capacity building of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on accountability and transparency with a view to strengthening the field of community monitoring for accountability in health in South Asia. Further, we aim to provide small grants to selected organisations to support the incorporation of the newly acquired skills.
Community of Practitioners for Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH) organised a three- days South Asian regional workshop in Mumbai, India, from 20th - 22nd February, 2013. The workshop was organised with a view to continue dialogue and exchange approaches, experiences, methods and possible further strategies regarding development of community monitoring and accountability in the health services.
The Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH)participated actively in the recently concluded Second Global Symposium on Health Systems Research held in Beijing fromOctober 31 to November 6, 2012. The Symposium brought together researchers, policymakers, funders, implementers, civil society, media representatives and other stakeholders to share new evidence, identify opportunities and gaps and build understanding of Health Systems Research (HSR).
People’s Health Movement- PHM and the Community of Practitioners in Accountability and Social Action in Health- COPASAH, organised the workshop: Community Monitoring for Accountability and Equity in Healthcare Services. The workshop was held during the PHA at Cape Town on July 9th, 17:00-19:00, in room GH1.
The convening held at Johannesburg, South Africa during July 18-20, 2011, brought together experienced practitioners of community monitoring for accountability in health to share practical experiences and synthesize lessons about their work in the area, to support and enhance the existing practice, to establish ways forward to better link practice, learning and documentation in mutually reinforcing ways.
