Dharti Gramotthan Evam Shabhagi Gramin Vikas Samiti 

Context

Dharti Gramothan Evam Shabhagi Gramin Vikas Samiti is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation, working for the weaker and deprived section of the society. Since its inception in 1996, Dharti continues working in the favour of poor, marginalised, vulnerable and deprived section of society in the remote, ravine and dacoit-affected areas of Chambal region. Dharti work area mainly falls in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. In the last 17 years of journey, Dharti has come across 30,000 households. At present Dharti works in 165 villages 80 Panchayat of 3 block of Morena District and 45 villages, 30 Panchayat and 2 blocks of Bhind district in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Dharti is involved in following activities:
  • Issue based advocacy and Community Mobilisation, Formation and empowerment of village groups.
  • Strengthening of Panchayat Raj Institution by providing information and basic skill of effective management, helping in restoration of lost faith of people in the concept of participatory Democratic Governance.
  • Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program in Community and School.
  • Child Education.
  • HIVAIDS control Program in Morena district. 
  • Saving and Credit among Women groups. 
  • Land and Water development program & Its Management.
  • Developing deeper Understanding of Child Right, Rights of girl child and Self-Governance, Gender analysis, Causes of Poverty and role of state and people in establishing principal of equality, equality of man and women in all respect and different essential aspects of Governance and Welfare of people as enshrined in the Constitution of India and other World Bodies Spiritual Scriptures.

Approaches to implementing Community monitoring/accountability

Dharti has been made an attempt to engage diversified stakeholders such as women, youth, adolescents, and social activists, Media Representative, PRIS Representative, ASHA, AWW, Teachers, ANM, MPW and Others Service Provider in the developmental sector. Dharti also stronger advocates for participatory community based processes both within the organization and with the community. The organisation believes in transparency approach and enjoys a credible reputation for its commitment, work, and devoted staff and for providing a healthy and democratic work atmosphere.
