Jeevan Jyoti Jan Kalyan Kendra

Context

Jeevan Jyoti Jan Kalyan Kendra (JJJKK) is working towards improving the economic status of women by raising their educational status, providing skill development programmes, technical trainings, animal husbandry programme. Periodic health check-ups are also carried out to improve the health status of women. It is also working for providing education for children of poor families and literacy programme for tribal women between the age group of 15-45 years. Nearly 125 Self Help Groups have been formed in 31 remote villages of Gomia Block by the Kendra.
Kendra also initiated the formation of a committee for Handicapped people. Presently 686 Handicapped people are members of this committee. Kendra helped the members in getting Handicapped Certificate from the Government, which aided them in getting facilities like pension under Vivekanand Pension Scheme, Rail Travel Card etc.
The organisation has also conducted awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS, adolescent reproductive health care, prevention of female foetus, legal rights, and labour rights under NAREGA.

Approaches to implementing Community monitoring/accountability

  • Conducting survey, information collection and regular assessment exercise through monthly, quarterly and yearly data preparation activities; awareness & motivational programmes
  • Provide training to service providers, volunteers in quality of care
  • To strengthen linkages with other service providers for establishing effective referral system
