Approaches to implementing Community monitoring/accountability

In order to establish healthy families and violence free relationships, MAIN promotes healthy sexual and reproductive health, en-gages men to end domestic violence and redefining masculinity by transforming negative cultural notions about masculinity for peace building and ending armed violence. Even though our main target is men, we work with men, women, boys and girls for holistic change.

The establishment of “MAIN” was driven by increase in ferocity in cases of domestic violence meted by both men and women even though we are cognizant of the fact that women face more violence than men. Men are the key perpetrators of the vice. To end domestic violence, we empower men to use their strength to end violence while women are empowered to use their strength to demand violence free relationships

Results and lessons

Masculinity Institute - MAIN have so far been able to undertake activities with men dominated spaces like matatu touts in Nyeri and Kisumu to stop stripping of women by men in public bus stops in Kenya. Based on our converging objectives, MAIN is interested in establishing a partnership with your organization. Some of the areas where we have convergence include joint campaigns and project activities
