SHARP Project, Royal Tropical Institute

Context

SHARP Project, Royal Tropical Institute is in the process of implementing a 3 year Sexual and Reproductive Health Project in South Sudan. We are planning to include a Community Monitoring component. We want to learn from the experience at COPASAH. We intend to also use the opportunity to conduct Operational Research / Action Research to further the understanding around 'community accountability for health' in post-conflict, fragile settings. We are also a training institution; we organise an annual International Masters in Public Health in Amsterdam; we are also specifically looking for insight into how best to develop learning material and incorporate considerations for 'community accountability for health' into our curriculum.

Approaches to implementing Community monitoring/accountability

In the SHARP project, we are all novices at 'Community Monitoring for Health'. We however have some experience with participatory approaches. Having read (and heard) about the work done by the community of practitioners at COPASAH, we want to learn from its members how best to approach the concept in our unique settings.
