COPASAH is a community where practitioners who share an interest and passsion for the field of community monitoring for accountability in health interact regularly and engage in exchanging experiences and lessons; sharing resources, capacities and methods; in the production and dissemination of conceptual, methodological and practical outputs towards strengthening the field; and in networking and capacity building among member organizations.

In October 2015, COPASAH & COPASAH Global Secretariat, Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ- Delhi, India) held a Facilitated Learning Exchange (FLE) for practitioners from different accountability practices of Macedonia including that of organisations, Association for Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of Women of Republic of Macedonia -ESE and KHAM. The FLE was held to facilitate peer learning and to enable strengthening of the practitioners’ forum across regions.

COPASAH international meeting was conducted at the COPASAH global secretariat, Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ), New –Delhi, India on September 30, 2015 wherein COPASAH members from Amalipe Centre for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance, Bulgaria and GOAL, Uganda shared the experiences of social accountability. COPASAH global coordinator, E. Premdas shared about COPASAH’s initiatives being pursued both at the global and regional level.

COPASAH and Transparency and Accountability Initiative (T/A Initiative) jointly held a two day research roundtable on the theme of SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY PROCESSES, formulated as a roundtable on “Comparative research on citizen participation and social accountability processes” on September 28-29 in New-Delhi, India. The experiences and expertise from across eight countries were represented in the roundtable from diverse accountability practices and different social movements.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) is being accepted as an effective tool for Social Accountability programs and processes and in citizen engagement for community monitoring, evidence gathering, gap analysis and action in health service delivery. With a view to enable peer group sharing of field experiences of use of ICT in accountability work and promote the understanding of various ICT tools and strategies that can be used for grassroots advocacy COPASAH has envisaged conduct of Facilitated Learning Exchange (FLE) s across 4-5 states respectively in small groups.
