The convening held at Johannesburg, South Africa during July 18-20, 2011, brought together experienced practitioners of community monitoring for accountability in health to share practical experiences and synthesize lessons about their work in the area, to support and enhance the existing practice, to establish ways forward to better link practice, learning and documentation in mutually reinforcing ways. There was an effort to develop an enhanced understanding of the current contexts, concepts and designs for and practices of community monitoring for accountability in health and to identify gaps for effective practice and use of community monitoring for accountability in health. Efforts also began for developing a community of practitioner-learners interested in advancing the field. |
